Q: When is the next deadline for your scholarship?
A: Next year, May 31, 2007. If we receive additional funding, it might be earlier [consider helping the cause]. You can certainly check around August to see if anything has changed.

Q: If I am a senior in high school, going to college next year, am I eligible? What transcript should I submit?
A: If you are going to college next year, you are eligible for the scholarship. Please provide your high school transcript when you apply.

Q: If I am a high school senior and have applied and been accepted at the college of my choice and have notified them of my intent to enroll, but I am planning to defer a year before going to college, am I eligible to enter?
A: No, you have to be enrolled. We write the check to your school. If you're not enrolled then we can't give you the scholarship because they won't bill you until you enroll. Sorry, but please apply again next year.

Q: If I am working towards my second bachelors, am I eligible?
A: Yes, you are eligible if you are working toward a second bachelors.

Q: For the essay portion of this application, should a works cited page be included, and should MLA format citing be utilized?
A: Yes, include a works cited page. MLA format is fine. Use what you're comfortable with and shows where you got your information. If needed, ask your English teacher or professor for help.

Q: I am going to be a freshman Autumn 2006. Is Fisk Univeristy on the list of participating Universities?
A: All universities are eligible, but the essay cycle has closed for this year. Check mtmfi.org over the next few months to see when the next scholarship will be awarded.

Q: Is a transcript required for the application?
A: A current transcript is necessary to determine if you are making forward progress towards a degree or diploma. Those in academic suspension/probation or with a GPA lower than 2.0 are not eligible for an award.
