MTM Innovator Scholarship 2007
Alternative energy:
Deadline is May 31, 2007 at 11:59PM Pacific Time.

Remember:

If you have any questions, check the scholarship FAQ before submitting a question to info@mtmfi.org.

Our economy is built on cheap energy and, based on recent global events, this is now changing. As energy prices rise, economics dictate that cheaper forms of energy be developed. Mind To Matter asks: Can clean energy production be one of these cheaper forms of energy?

In 600 words or less, describe a clear plan to install and implement an alternative energy program or system in a residence, business, educational or public building.

Be as specific as possible. Essays that do not include a clear plan will not be considered. In your essay please discuss physical specifications including how much energy is needed, any systems limitations, cost versus benefit, etc. Consider economic reasoning and justifications for installation, capital costs, and length of time to recover expenses.

Your application must include basic schematics or drawings outlining your planned installation.

If the topic of your application is based on an installation that has already occurred, you must include a detailed analysis of pitfalls and successes since installation. Systems installed before January 1, 2003 are not eligible for entry into this contest.

  • The winner will be awarded $500 which may be used for eligible education expenses only (like tuition and books) and cannot be applied to computer equipment purchases (the scholarship check will be made payable to the educational institution).
  • Essays must be submitted in .rtf, MS Word, or .pdf formats only, and the total application must be smaller than 500kb. You may include graphic files in your document or attach them seperately. In either case, you may not exceed 500kb. Please be mindful of the file size, if the size limit is exceeded, your application will not be considered.
  • Only one submission per applicant, please. If a project is submitted by a team it will be considered, but applicants will split the prize.

Keep scrolling.

Good luck!

An applicant’s race, creed, religion, nationality, employment status, or physical impairment will not be used as essay selection criteria.

By emailing your essay, you certify that:

(a) The work above is yours and yours alone. Works and ideas of other people are properly cited and all new ideas are yours alone.

(b) All works submitted belong to you and, if you receive a scholarship from Mind to Matter Foundation Inc. (MTMFI), it will be awarded on an unconditional basis. MTMFI requests, but does not require, that you make your work available for the benefit of the public in ways customary and appropriate to the particular idea. MTMFI, only with your written permission, may take actions to further develop your proposed idea by submitting it to a Think Tank. If your idea is submitted for further development, MTMFI will take reasonable measures to include you in the development process.
